Answer

In its 2022 Recommendations for the Development of the Net-Zero Data Public Utility, the CDSC described the vision of the NZDPU in which data and sectoral classifications would be open and available to the public, for all use cases, at no charge. The NZDPU will be operated for the sole purpose of providing the data and transparency to support decision-making. The CDSC and NZDPU are still committed to data being available to the public, for all use cases, at no charge.

The June 2025 release of the NZDPU will include climate data from over 10,000 companies that have disclosed through CDP and chosen for their disclosure to be publicly accessible. As an interim step towards fully open data, we are currently required to maintain certain licensing restrictions to balance the needs of users and the sources where NZDPU accesses data from.
